As we continue last Friday's discussion of "the path," let’s look at another comparison.
Her feet go down to death; her steps follow the path to Sheol (the grave); she does not ponder the path of life; her ways wander, and she does not know it. Proverbs 5:5-6
Those who do not know Christ as Saviour and Lord are unknowingly, and maybe some are consciously, following the path of death to the grave. They do not ponder the path of life… and don’t realize they are already dead since they have not chosen Life.
But the righteous – those who have received the righteousness of Christ and walk in His ways – do ponder the path of life and have literally been set on a brand new path - the path of life!
In the path of righteousness is life, and in its pathway there is no death. Proverbs 12:28
Even if the righteous walk the path of life all the way to the grave, that death is not their end, nor will it be ours if we die before the Bridegroom returns. For those who have died in Christ are very much alive with Him… and will be for all eternity. What an amazing promise of hope!
This hope is not only for the afterlife - Praise God!- but it’s for here right now on earth.
For a man's ways are before the eyes of the Lord, and He ponders – makes level - all his paths. Proverbs 5:21
The Lord has His eyes on our paths, and He makes them level before us. How gracious and kind He is! God gives a very precious promise in Psalm 91:12.
For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways, they will lift you up in their hands so you will not strike your foot against a stone.
God does not wish us to be tripped up. That’s the work of the enemy. In fact, the next verse in Psalm 91 reads, “You will tread upon the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent.” (vs. 13)
We have been given authority over the enemy through Christ! That’s good news. We can be victorious in our walk on the path of life!
God further provides His blessing and protection over us.
Because he loves me," says the Lord, "I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. Psalm 91:14-15
May you be encouraged today as you continue to walk with our Father on the path of life... and may you be filled with joy.
