At the close of every year, I think back to the experiences of the year. At the beginning of this year, I had wondered what the year would hold. Now I know - at least as much as I can know from my limited perspective.
In the first chapter of Acts, the disciples were coming to the close of a season in their lives and entering a new one. They wondered, too, what the future would hold. This dialogue between Jesus and His disciples happens just before He ascends into heaven. Check out how He answeres their question.
So when they had come together, they asked him, "Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?"
He said to them, "It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth." Acts 1:6-8
There you have it. It's not for us to concern ourselves with what the future will hold. What we do need to know, however, is that we have the same promised power of the Holy Spirit available to us... for today... and for whatever the future may hold.
The question for us is...
Will you again submit your life and future to God?
Will you welcome the Holy Spirit to have His way in your life throughout this new year?
Through the power of the Holy Spirit we will be victorious, we will be comforted, and we will have strength. We will have all we need for all the days and all that they hold.
It's not for us to know
but there's power for us to go
boldly into the unknown
blessed by the One Who knows
