Do not be wise in your own eyes...

My son, do not forget my teaching,

but keep my commands in your heart,

for they will prolong your life many years

and bring you prosperity.

Let love and faithfulness never leave you;

bind them around your neck,

write them on the tablet of your heart.

Then you will win favor and a good name

in the sight of God and man.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart

and lean not on your own understanding;

In all your ways acknowledge Him,

and He will make your paths straight.

Do not be wise in your own eyes;

fear the Lord and shun evil.

This will bring health to your body

and nourishment to your bones.

Proverbs 3:1-8

Often, when I do not understand what is going on in my life and things are a bit chaotic and out of control... I will be reminded especially of Proverbs 3:5-6. "Trust in the Lord... with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding...

We can spend all day trying to understand a situation in our life only to realize at the end of the day... we are back where we started. Some things are meant just to be trusted into the Lord's hands but there are other times that He gives us the spirit of discernment and wisdom that we need in certain situations. Even so, it all boils down to trust... Trusting Him for the unknown, and trusting Him to give us wisdom. "In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight."

He does encourage us to... "Let love and faithfulness never leave you: bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will find favor and a good name in the sight of God and man."
