Our desperate need..

Usually, in January, I tend to reflect on the year before and the challenges, goals, and unexpected surprises that came my way. I cannot do that without looking back at what God used in my life to draw me closer to Him. Several events occurred over the year that caused me to totally rely and focus on the Lord. When I think back, I am amazed at the intensity in my relationship with Him during those times. What happened during the in-between times when I wasn't begging or pleading for a life to be spared, or a life to be born, or another crisis of some sort?

We all face those times of desperate need in our relationship with the Lord and yet, the normal everyday experience with God is a nurturing process. We sit at His Feet and He prepares us for the days ahead. He knows when we are going to need Him during those hours of intensity just as He knows how much we need to grow in our relationship with Him to face those days. We are often shocked when we hear of the perils of our time; the earthquakes, the tsunamis, and the devastating storms that bring homelessness and wreckage. We can google that down to each individual living on this earth. We are all in desperate need. We need a Savior to heal our broken relationships, the pain we carry, our saddened hearts, discouragement, lost jobs, financial difficulties, depression and some times the will to go on. Some of us need a new beginning.

As we sit at the feet of Jesus, may we trust everything that is weighing heavily on our hearts to Him.

"This is how we know that we belong to the truth, and how we set our hearts at rest in His presence whenever our hearts condemn us. For God is greater than our hearts, and He knows everything." 1 John 3:19-20

"This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him. This is love: not that we loved God but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins." 1 John 4:9-10
